Safety Policies

Preparing Safety Policies

We have a great deal of experience preparing safety policies and procedures for our clients, from all-in-one policy documents for smaller organisations to more complex systems incorporating separate safety procedures.

All organisations must have a health and safety policy, which are normally laid out in three sections:

  • The statement of general policy on health and safety at work which sets out your commitment to managing health and safety effectively, and what you want to achieve
  • The responsibility section which sets out who is responsible for specific actions
  • The arrangements section which contains the detail of what you are going to do in practice to achieve the aims set out in your statement of health and safety policy

We can recommend policy formats or work with a format you have developed. We believe it’s very important to ensure safety policies and procedures are easy to read, practical and suitable for the organisation concerned.

We can advise on staff consultation and deal with staff feedback and amendments.  We can also help you prepare for third party accreditation schemes such as CHAS and help you design and implement ISO 45001 safety management systems.

For information on preparing safety policies go to the HSE website.

“I wanted to convey how impressed I was with what I saw today, especially the commitment, communication methods, risk assessments, internal audits and management reviews.  It is clear that Tom, Mark and the team are doing a marvellous job in managing the safety management system.  What I saw today was amongst the best safety management systems that I have seen and I would describe it as ‘best in class’.” Lead Assessor, The British Assessment Bureau.
